Dan and Ashley look at one of their fav works by Mr. Pauly T as they look at they look at the teaser trailer for The Master. In between talking about how it uses minimal clips and great music to set a mood they also discuss Amy Adams' film career and Fever Pitch.
Looking at their first contemporary trailer we're forced with staring into the mouth of madness. We talk about Will Smith, trailer twists, the possibility of horny, Jack Black and come up with the perfect ending to this movie.
Deciding that they need to branch out Dan and Ashley talk about pens and watches. Also high school fight clubs, Ryback, various scary things they've done and the films of Sylvester Stallone.

Ashley & Dan go to the opposite end of the spectrum as they look at 2011's Sucker Punch. In between wondering where the time has gone and talking about Tyler Bate they get deep into the troubling nature of this film. From how every girl has almost no defining characteristic to how the multi layer narrative masks the fact that this films really hates non-neurotypical people. Also is Jason Isaacs a secret asshole in real life or just that good at playing one? Remember, we don't like snitches.
In the first episode Dan and Ashley look at Spider-Man 2 to talk about how blockbuster films get advertised, how good Doc Ock is and the fact that the train scene is nowhere to be found.
Most of the games I end up liking have custom characters. From skateboarding game to open world mayhem makers it’s easier to put myself into a character that looks like me. Or more that looks like my ideal self.

Life is Strange is a 2015 game where you play as Max (never Maxine), a new college student moving back into her old home town. Along with hitting many familiar beats of the stranger in a familiar land plot common with stories about this age group it also introduces a drug dealer, a missing girl and time travel. By blending its sci-fi with well done characters and romance it became a huge hit that impacted me greatly and even made me cry from both sheer joy and grief.
As more time passes the more I come to think that I actually might hate what this game was in a multitude of ways.
It’s when I knew I could set my fears aside that Miles would be put on the sidelines of his own adventure, a sadly all too common occurrence in the comics. That this story would at it’s core be about a kid becoming a hero.
Ranma was not only a killer comedy for me to read in between classes, it became an obsession that was focused on my biggest problem with the series. Why did Ranma ever want to go back to being a boy?
Most popular yuri series taking place at a school have a unique thing that sets them apart from the pack. Canno’s Cider and Crybaby has the focus on the girls in a paranormal club. Shinozaki-san Ki wo Ota Shika ni! by Saku Saku Tei has the story be a comedy about a girl becoming more of a nerd as she falls deeper into love. Hayashiya Shizuru’s A Lifeform in Puberty — Vega has one of the main girls as an alien that gets super powers from kissing and affection. People get creative with their hooks.
Citrus’ hook is that the main characters are step-sisters.
The best description I’ve come up with for the 2008-2016 manga Billy Bat by Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki is “the story of a comic that can tell the future over the course of a century.” That is a very simple version that ignores all the complexities and various twists and turns. It’s easier to say that Billy Bat is pure concentrated Naoki Urasawa. A vast conspiracy book with loads of characters and small human moments that give the book life.
